BLOG #5 - Northman Lengi® Journeyman

A stylish choice with charm

I am pretty sure that you are familiar with those quartz watches with classic-minimalist design, which differ only in their logos and somehow look arbitrary. Fortunately, if you take a closer look at the current watch market, a clear trend becomes visible. In addition to the big fashion brands that want to set foot in the watch game, there are more and more smaller microbrands that create watches out of passion and listen to the wishes of their consumers.

If you then decide on a particular model, there are several purchase criteria such as price, design, history / heritage and uniqueness. Of course, not every new watch brand has a long history. But at least it can offer extraordinary designs, nice functions and matching size far away from the "42+mm" range.

The guys from Northman Lengi from Sweden are such minds who have entered the market with a clear concept and passion.

The design

The composition of the hand pair alone (hour/minute) is extremely elegant. The hands are very timeless and yet striking in the spear style of one of the A. Long & Sons Saxonia. By dispensing with a ticking second hand, the extraordinary overall impression has not been damaged, it is in my opinion even more enhanced.

Just like the hands, the simple indices and the housing color are perfectly matched to each other and form a beautiful unit. With only 6.5mm case thickness, this dress watch knows how to impress very stylishly on the wrist. With a case diameter of 40mm most watch lovers will have fun with this design choice. And the total length (lug-to-lug) has a pleasant 47.7mm shape.

Materials and movement

The Journeyman is made out of 316L steel. The material is easy to clean because hardly any dirt sticks to the watch and has the advantage of never rusting due to the use of chrome.

In addition, the glass chosen for the Journeyman has a competitive advantage towards most "fashion watches": Nortman Lengi uses a sapphire crystal with anti-reflecting (AR) coating. This gives you an unrestricted view of the dial at every angle.

Inside the case, a Miyota 1L22 Quartz movement was installed, which runs robustly and reliably and ticks invisibly in the background due to the absence of the already mentioned second hand. On the back of the watch you will find the Northman Lengi logo engraved.

What's in for you & availability

The Journeyman is an overall inspiring concept. Both the design and the functions know how to please. Even if it could be a little smaller for some  watch ethusiasts, it is harmonious and very flat in terms of proportions. No matter what the occasion might be, you can confidently wear this watch in different places / on special events: you can easily swap five different strap versions and choose what look you are up to. The crocodile version for business meeting will not let your down as well as the smooth Nubuck style strap for the evening – it is your choice!
